The Freedom of Assembly in 21st Century America: Ferguson, Missouri, 2014

America, for all it's purple mountains, is a police state:

••• it imprisons more of its people than Russia;

••• it spends more on war and preparing for war than Russia, China, and the EU combined;

••• Ferguson, a tiny and typical hamlet in the middle of the country -- devoid of all enemies not of  its own making -- has more and better war machinery than many a country; and has just now, show it will use the machinery of war against its own sovereign, the people who live in Ferguson, its rightful rulers.

Ferguson is not unique; it is not even unusual.

War, horrible war, is not the worst thing we do to kith and kin.

Maka'ala.  Look well, my people.

I can hear the train a'comin'
A'comin' round the bend,
I can hear the whistle blowing,
And it won't come 'round again'. . . .

This is not in Egypt.

The Civil Rights Act is 50 years old. These two pictures were taken 50 years apart. Behold our progress. #Ferguson pic.twitter.com/8PNn8eteO2
